A year earlier there is an Edith Rose M Sparkes born at Wandsworth. March 1900. The M may stand for May. Many relations have given me wrong information on my family members. Irene

Thanks every one for your replies her fathers name is john william sparkes and it says deceased on the marriage cert. however at the bottom it says in the presence of us and has the name John william Sparkes as well. Now that is spooky!!! lol and i know that she does not have a brother called by that name the marriage is on 14th sept 1919 and she is 18 they are married in st James church muswell hill. Would it be possible to see if she was baptised at a church in the muswell hill area? does anyone know how i would go about doing that? Thanks Jenny

Hi Jennifer Just checked the birth registers for 1901, there isn't a birth for an Edith May Sparkes, but there is one for an Edith Mary Sparkes Kensington, Dec qre Vol 1a Page 138, if that helps. Is it possible that the 'r' might have been dropped or misheard along the way? If you have her marriage cert, you could always try ordering it with a checking point of her fathers name and see what happens. Regards Looby

Hi everyone, I have a problem and im not sure where to look. My Great nan was born on 13st Sept 1901 in hornsey london according to my aunt, the problem that i have is that her mother forgot to register her!!!! at birth and so I cant seem to find a birth cert anywhere. I have her marriage cert so I am really confused as i thought that you had to produce this to get married. now I am stuck I dont know her mothers maiden name or anything like that and have been told that they moved around a lot so now I am stuck for a area Advice please, i feel like a dog chasing its own tail. there has to be a way but cant seem to find it.
