Thanks for your advice Rod, I am not resident UK so I order certs online. I've checked the Greenwich RO site and it seems that you can't order online from them. I will email them however, and see if they can help me with the registration, and also maybe the pay by phone option will work out. Brian

Brian, try ordering from the local reg office, if you are wrong with the page number they will either send your money back or phone you and let you know the alternative, if you give them all the info you have they will often check to make sure its the right person. Rod ps still the same price £7

i've just had a look at the scan and would say its 250 if you look at the other 5's and see how it curls at the bottom and then look at the 3's you will notice the difference. i subscribe to ancestry and wouldn't be without it. regards carol

Hi Your first question: I took a look on Ancestry at the original image and used a big magnifying glass, it looks like 5/250 to me comparing the 5 to the other fives and threes on the page. Anyone else agree? I find that Ancestry gives the best value for money. It has a lot of resources and is easy to use.

In freeBMD...Emily Froud, birth reg. March 1846 Greenwich, has the GRO Index vol 5, page 2(35)0. This indicates that the transcriber was unable to accurately read the original index. I have looked at the scan and agree, it's unreadable. Any suggestions on how to get the GRO index. I am not a UK resident but would like all/any suggestions. Also would like advice on best data service to subscribe to ? Ancestry.co, 1837 online..etc., I am looking for the BEST data service for all census' of Kent, London & Middlesex, Hampshire, Devon and Yorkshire. Plus any other data such as Parish Records...( All for the most economical years subscription cost !). Thankyou, Brian
