Hi I have just managed to order the death certificate i was trying to order this time it just asked for normal information and was £7. Maybe try logging out and trying again. Karen

It ony asks the date of birth if you have not checked the box where it asks if you have the full reference number, do that, then you can order without the DOB. Jennifer

i have all the other info but it still asks me for the actually dob...looks like i'll just have to pay more!!!!

Just to put your minds at rest re. the pricing, as follows Fees for events in England and Wales Standard Service Full certificate of birth, marriage, death or adoption by post / phone / fax £11.50 Full certificate of birth, marriage, death or adoption online £10.00 Full certificate of birth, marriage, death or adoption (with GRO reference supplied) by post / phone / fax £8.50 Full certificate of birth, marriage, death or adoption (with GRO reference supplied) ordered online £7.00 Short (abbreviated) certificate of birth by post / phone / fax £11.50 Short (abbreviated) certificate of birth (with GRO reference supplied) by post / phone / fax £8.50 Short (abbreviated) certificate of adoption by post / phone / fax £10.00 Short (abbreviated) certificate of adoption ordered online £8.50 Short (abbreviated) certificate of adoption (with GRO reference supplied) by post / phone / fax / online £7.00 The GRO reference is the Vol number nad page number. You don't need the date if you have those and the year and quarter of the event.

Hi ya, if you know where your ancestor was born you can order a certificate direct from the registry office by phoning them. I always google the area to find registry office and the tel number and order mine that way. it usually costs £7 and is with me within a couple of days. Julie

Hi I cam e along the same thing the other day when looking in to ordering a death certificate and i had the same thing where it asked me for the date of death and information which i dont know hense the reason why i waa ordering the certificate i also noticed that the price had gone upto £10. I have never been asked for this before maybe this something new?? Karen

You don't need the date of birth to order a certificate. What you need is the Year, Quarter, Registration District, Volume Number and Page Number.

What site are you using? You don't usually need to give a date of birth - after all - that is what you are probably trying to find out! Maybe the site you are using is having probs. Is it the ONS? Jacquie

i'm trying to order birth certs and it wont let me as i dont have an actual dob i just have the year and quarter...but how can i find out the actual dob...thing is if i send for for one off the internet its £7 and to send one in post is £11.50..Bit pants is my thought..can anyone help
