A quick way of looking for the George Parton / Alice Underwood marriage would be to buy some credits on Family Relatives at www.familyrelatives.org, if you haven't already tried on there, because they have fully name-indexed the period between 1866 and 1920, and you can put in the names of both bride and groom and it will search for a possible match. Christine, assuming that some of these people married each other, or at least got married, the best thing to do will be to get their marriage certificates, which will give you information such as their ages when they got married (well, maybe), and their fathers' names and occupations, etc. Then you should be able to work back from there. Perhaps somebody in your family has a cache of old certificates that you can look at? Failing that, if you go onto ancestry*co*uk (replace * with .) and register with them (you don't have to pay), you can look through the GRO BMD indexes and find the information that you need to order copies of the certificates. (Most of the names that you mention look like ones that would be impossible to pick out of the many with the same name unless you have more information to start with, such as who they married.)
