Thanks all, Billy, have tried all variations that I can think of, but to no avail. I am not aware of any adoption for her, with a private baptism I wonder if she born and died very soon afterwards (within hours) and they just have not registered them. I was aware of the Whitby christenings/births, I am sure they are not related unfortunately, I have no inkling that they would have been in Yorkshire, the family have as far as I'm aware been in Staffs, for a couple of generations previously. Thanks all for your assitance, have to think about this again. Keith. |

Hi - not sure if this is just a coincidence with the unusual name but there is this birth entry: Frances Jane Locker Year: 1870 Quarter : Jan-Feb-Mar District: Whitby County: Yorkshire - North Riding Volume: 9d Page: 427 Also a marriage for her: Name: Frances Jane Locker Year : 1890 Quarter : Jan-Feb-Mar District: Whitby County: Yorkshire - North Riding Volume: 9d Page: 596 Could this be the same girl whose baptism you found a few years later in different county? Just wondering if this family moved around a bit. She may have been born before the couple actually wed. Are you aware of any Yorkshire connections (e.g. her grandparents?) Then again, it could just be coincidental. |

My great aunt was the first of 9 girls who all arrived with frighteningly rapid regularity. She was sent to live with her widowed paternal grandmother (only about four houses away). So, check out the rellies!! Victoria |

Haven't got time to look Keith but is there any chance that she was given up for adoption or as happened to a great aunt of mine turned up at someone elses house during the census but was referred to by her second name. She was listed in the first of 2 census as Kate but when she later answered one herself she was Louise, having been christened Louise Catherine. |

I have found the baptism of Frances Jane Locker in the PRs for St Mark, Great Wyrley, Staffs on 28th April 1875 to parents George William Locker and Frances Ann Locker who married 25th Aug 1873. However, Frances Janes birth does not appear to have been registered nor her death (I'm assuming she died before 1881 as she does not appear on the 81 census with the family). I could not find a burial for her though. This family are becoming an enigma, Frances b Gt Wyrley, second child b Bridgtown, Cannock, baptised St Luke, Cannock, third child b Gt Wyrley, baptised St Luke Cannock, 4th child b Gt Wyrley, no sign of baptism, 5th child b Gt Wyrley, no baptism but burial at Gt Wyrley age 4 months, 6th child b Gt Wyrley, no baptism found. A second pair of eyes to find Frances Janes birth and/or death would be appreciated. Thanks Keith Have to go out this afternoon so will check back later thanks again. |
