I found a load of relations on Rootsweb last night but the site hadn't been touched since 2002 and the contact e-mail address is out of date! It's sad really. Some time ago, because of information I found in a will, I knew that the sister of my 2x great grandfather moved to the USA with her husband and children. Some kind folks looked them up for me and I know they went to Newark. Their entry into the US gave me the children's names and from those I was able to find their baptisms. That led to a breakthrough in my own ancestry and gave me the lead I needed to find my 3x and 4x greats. Last night I found the US branch of the family on Rootsweb. It went on down to a number of Livings. Whoever put it there didn't know any further back than one of the children of my ancestral aunt and the birthplace was only down as England. If I'd had an e-mail address that worked for them I could have shared loads of ancestors and lots of interesting information. I've put several of that US branch on my GR tree in case one of their descendants joins us some time and gets a Hot Match. This is one case when I think adding more than direct ancestors on this site is a good idea. Sue |

Might be worth checking to see if they have put any info on 'ancestry' I input my wife's 3GGF's name in and discovered several people were researching the line and had gone back several generations more than I was able to. |

Just tried that Alan Looks like the only person researching that name is the one whose e-mail address is out of date. It's a large and complicated tree he's put on there but untouched for 4 years so I wonder if he's died. I've tried some of the other names on the tree too without success. Ah well........they aren't very closely related to me but it would have been nice to be able to give them several generations further back. Sue |
