I dont know if anyone remembers my posting about this couple but found a marriage some time ago for a Abraham Rose and a Susan Joel in 1857 she is down as full age ,thought there was something odd about it as she is listed as Susan on all the census records and a lot older than she was.Well with some help somebody found a marriage between them in 1860 under their right names Abraham Guttantag and Esther Joel this time in a Synagogue . Definitely same couple right addresses. So maybe she decided to have a Jewish wedding as well. |

Well its sometimes common where people are from different faiths etc to marry twice, one in one partners religious house and one in the other. Its likely that Abraham went for a different name to anglicise himself - from Guttentag to Rose (think its quite a sweet name really - Guttentag - means Good Day). So perhaps due to his other name he had to marry twice. |
