Hi Bridie and Kathleen, thankyou for your ideas. I have searched for marriage in both Jones and Bales, I have checked for Jones and Bales in death records but still nothing. I will check the certs. for the 2 mentioned ( I have looked at that many I can't remember if I have them wrote down). I was told she moved to Four Elms, Edenbridge but I've checked with Electoral Registers in the area, although there is a Dorothy and she was born in 1894 she is not my Dorothy. Thanks again for your help. Kindest regards Marie |

Hi Are you saying you lose track of what happened to her after 1942? You say you've searched marriage records so I trust you're searching under Jones, not Bales. Also have you checked for possible death entries, remembering she may not have died where she lived. If you know her date of birth you could try ancestry death registers using just her forenames to see what comes up then look for a possible corresponding marriage. regards |

My gt grandmother was born Dorothy Florence Bales 1894 (Camberwell) in 1917 she married Alfred Jones and had 2 girls and a boy (my grandfather). In 1942 she was living in Horley, Surrey and working on the neighbouring farm. My grandad seemed to think she remarried but didn't know who to. I have searched bmd on Ancestry and checked Electoral Registers for Surrey but don't know what else to try. I have been looking for 13yrs but I am no further forward. Thanks in advance. If anyone needs any research done in Co. Durham area I am more than happy to help. |
