Thanks to all for your help have done most of my searching on line but now i need to get out and do some searching. My Scottish side has been fairly easy but my English side i have found more difficult. Thanks again for your help. Jeanette. |

Hi Jeanette I know absolutely nothing about the Newcastle area being a southener! But if you intend to spend your time looking at records it might be an idea to search out the Local Records Office. If you can find them online I am sure it will give you a comprehensive list of what they have available. If not online then it would be worth giving them a call. also why dont u phone newcastle council for cemetaries/ crems and ask them to do a search for where they are buried, normally helpful. |

i got married in main register office right in the town centre in newcastle years ago so guess there will be somewhere close by to centre, then the metro to get to sunderland. so i would stay local so u can get about. try travel lodge also if u book before certain dates with travel lodge u get good discount , have a look at there web site. |

Hi, Newcastle Library is really good as they have bmd on Micro fiche I'm not sure if you have to ring in advance its that long since I've used it. Marie |

I am researching family in Newcastle.I live in Scotland but will be in Newcastle in november can anyone advise me which area it would be best for me to stay. My gran was born in Sunderland but my Mum was born in Birtley. I really want to find info on my Gran's parents. Could someone please advise me on which registrars office i should visit.
