Hi, just starting my search with very basic information, what are the best sites I can access that will allow me to view birth, marriage, death crertificates both pre and post 1900. Here's hoping.

uk If you are just starting I have to say that you must be prepared financially. BMD sites up to about 1912 - http://freebmd.rootsweb*com/ this is a free site but be prepared for a few patches in the earlier years that have still to be transcribed. www.Ancestry*co*uk is a site where you pay for membership and then no further payments but have access to BMD Censuses and more .... http://www.1837online*com/HomeServlet is another paying site with access to censuses too and you can see details of their payment schemes In the addresses substitute a Dot for all the asterisks..

Just to confirm that there is no actual site that lets you view actual certificates, but the sites mentioned above will help you locate the reference details so you can order the certificates from the GRO or Local Records Offices.

You can view all the BMD information on Ancestry without paying a subscription, you just have to register. Sam x

You cannot view the certs for England/Wales...you can only find the refs to enable you to purchase them. You can, however, view Scottish certs......... Reg

I believe you can view Scottish cert on Scotlands People for a fee, but there's date restrictions. You can also find lots of baptism and marriages on www.familysearch.org which is free.
