1877 Holy Bible, bound in black tooled leather with a presentation dedication on the front end-paper and records of the (Keyworth) Swallow family of Sheffield on the rear end-paper and inside rear cover. This bible is in extremely good condition, the leather is just lightly rubbed at the spine ends and corners, the hinges are sound both inside and out, binding is sound, gilt blocks are reasonably bright and pages are clean. Text-only bible - no plates. The front inscription reads: Presented to Joshua Crookes Swallow, by the Members of St Stephen's Young Men's Bible Class on the occasion of his Marriage with their well-wishes for his temporal and Spiritual welfare, Sheffield October 29th 1887, Henry Biggin, President The rear inscriptions read: Annie Elizabeth Swallow. Born at Saxilby, Nr Lincoln, August 22nd, 1878 William Keyworth Swallow. Born at 76 Weston Street, Sheffield Nov 10th 1880 Rebecca May Swallow. Born at 152 St Mary's Road Sheffield Feb 20 1885 Joshua Philip Swallow. Born at 152 St Mary's Road Sheffield Nov 10th 1887 Nettie Lucile Swallow. Born at 152 St Mary's Road Sheffield April 23rd 1872(deleted) 1892 Rebecca Swallow Died April 27th 1914 age 57. Buried Norton Cemetary April 30th 1914 Sheffield, Derbyshire Lane, near Sheffield Also included is a black leather and gilt label that reads: Presented to the trustees of this Chapel by Mr and Mrs J C Swallow (of Sheffield), Son-in-Law and daughter of Mr Wm Keyworth. There is also a poor reproduction of a photograph (possible from a newspaper of a young man in army uniform (possible World War I) Approx weight: 1.5kg, size approx: 22x15x5 cm Item number: 160031802075
