What do you think, is it just a letter left out?

I have been looking for George Mason Thompson b. c 1819 St. Giles for some time. His father was John, mother not known. I have found a John Thompson b. St Andrews Holborn to John Thompson and Susanna. They also had another child Edward Mason Thompson. I have also found a marriage on Pallotts for John Mason Thomson and Susannah Scarlett. St. Geo. Martyr Westminster 1799. It just seems too much of a coincidence to me. What does anyone else think? Could the 'p' have been left off the marrige cert., it certainly says Thomson on the image. ?????????

Quite possible. Its a rare relative that spells his name consistently!

Hi Helen Thanks for your reply. Would they have just told the name to the registrar and he wrote it the way he heard it do you think?

Hi Ozibird, That's what I thought too. It would certainly help me out if this were so!! LOL

Yes, quite likely a spelling error. Even in this day and age it happens. When my husband and I got married, the Curate gave us a sample form that she had filled out and everything was spelt correctly. I particularly checked my father's name - Denis - spelt with one 'n'. She had it correct. After the wedding when I checked the certificate, she'd spelt it with 2 - Dennis!

Thanks Gerry, I am very happy to think it is! Opens a few doors which may help my brick wall!
