Hi Can anyone help? l have just read a thread regarding catholic B.M.Ds on the civil index rather than the igi. l have'nt heard of the civil index before. Does anyone know where l can find it? Pam |

Indexes of Births Marriages and Deaths are held at most large libraries, and your Local Record Office, which can be viewed on a microfiche reader. But you have to phone up to book a reader. They are listed alphabetically and by quarters, March,June, September, December. from 1837. 'Good Luck' |

Hi Poirot Thanks for that. l was hoping it was something that had dates before 1837. But l can still look for early marriages and deaths. l will certinly be going to do that. Armed with flasks of tea ands lots of sandwiches. Thanks again Regards Pam |

Hi Gill Thanks for the sites. l have used freebmd and ancestry bmd also 1837 online. l was hoping to find info on my lrish relatives in Liverpool in the 1820s/30s. No one on g.r. seems to want to claim them. Oh well the search continues. Thanks again Regards Pam |

Even if you go to a records office, you may not find the parish records for Catholic churches. I was looking at Northallerton yesterday, but they have very few Catholic records as the churches have refused to release the, Linda |

Hi Gill Tell me about it. l wish l could book my holiday to lreland the problem is it would probably take me a lifetime as my 3xs gt grandparents never had the foresight to say WHERE in lreland they were from. Still if l was fit l'd hire a Gipsy Horsedrawn Caravan and muse away my days looking at every record in the land. Well it'd be a great way to while away the years!! Best wishes Pam |

Hi again Gill Well at least you got Dublin alls l got was lreland!!!!!!!!!!!!! lts horrible not knowing north or south. What is even more frustrating a lady from america contacted me sayoing my Logans are from Carrickmacross. County Monaghan. Thats it. She has never answered my queery as to how she knows this. Best of all though my dad always said his father was a Scots Orangeman He was born and bred in Liverpool and his grandfather was a catholic lol. Family rumours. l can excuse my dad that one though as he left home at 14 and joined the army. He did get his mother right though she was the daughter of a lrish catholic. lf one day l happen to visit Dublin l will look up your lot. Happy hunting Pam |
