Syncope is defined as 'brief loss of consciousness associated with transient cerebral anemia, as in heart block, sudden lowering of the blood pressure, etc.; fainting.' i.e. not enough blood to the brain.

Thank you so much. As a child I was always fainting and wasnt aware it was called Syncope, so that's been really helpfull. Thanks so much. Lou

Brights disease is an inflammation of the kidneys and syncope is a term for fainting. I would think that what probably happened is that your relation went in to a coma due to her system being poisoned because her kidneys packed up.

Hi, I Have just received a death certificate and the cause of death is written as :- (1) Brights disease (2) Syncope. Could some wise owl please inform me what these illness's area the person was only aged 38yrs in 1916. I haven't a clue and would appreciate some help. Many thanks, Lou
