Well its a ditto mark refering to the F S above her which is short for Female Servant (M S is male servant) 'Ind'= Independent (ie living on their means),'H.P.'= Half-pay in the Army, 'P'= Pensioner, 'M.S.'= Male servant, 'F.S.'= Female servant, 'J'= Journyman, 'Ap'= Apprentice, 'Sh'= Shopman, 'M'= Manufacturer, 'm'= maker, 'Cl'= Clerk, 'Ag Lab'= Agricultural labourer, 'FWK'= Framework Knitter. is there anyone out there who can look at the 1841 census on ancestry,i do not know what the abbrieviations mean on the occupation,the name of the person is MARY FRY no birth place given but it is in the walcot area of bath somerset....thanks all
