Morning I am trying to find ref for my great grandfathers birth and death certificate, so far have had no success. His name was Joseph William Evans born in around 1858 in Reading Berkshire - I believe he also died in Reading. I would be grateful if anyone could have a look for me Thanks

Point one............the birth may not be registered.....it wasn't compulsory until 1875. Point two.........when was the last time he appeared on a census? And where was he living? Reg

In that case, to find his death, you need to go to the Ancestry site, and find the FULL bmd records. Start searching from 1901.........view the images, quarter by quarter, until you find the entry. Good luck Reg

I guess you want the birth details to learn his mother's maiden name............ Might this be John and Caroline's marriage........ . Ann Clifford 1861 Oct-Nov-Dec Reading Berkshire >>>>>John Evans 1861 Oct-Nov-Dec Reading Berkshire William Gardner 1861 Oct-Nov-Dec Reading Berkshire >>>>>>> Caroline Tucker 1861 Oct-Nov-Dec Reading Berkshire There is a big gap between William and his siblings...........indicates a possible earlier marriage for John...... Also, Caroline would have been only 14/15 when he was born......... Reg
