Jim and anyone else who cares to read this. Please will you not refer to Scunthorpe, Brigg, Frodingham etc as being in HUMBERSIDE. That is not a county, it is an area, like you would say Merseyside or Tyneside. These places are all in Lincolnshire. I was born in Scunthorpe and I really hate it when people don't understand Humberside is not a county. It is the same with north humberside, it is actually east Yorkshire and I can assure you they don't like it either. I find it ridiculous when people on here add rellies born in the 18c etc and add Humberside as the birthplace. I have complained to Genes about it being on here as a county and they said they know it is wrong and will change it in the future - pigs might fly!! Sorry, rant over, but I hope you understand. Hi Lizzie Yes, a part of north Lincolnshire was changed to Humberside in 1974 and it was very unpopular with most people here and it was changed back in 1996 and Lincolnshire was split into three parts, north Lincs, north east Lincs and Lincolnshire. Both my children were born in the seventies also but they always say they were born in Lincolnshire. The main problem is that the Royal Mail, or whatever it is called now, still use Humberside as a county. What I find ludicrous is having people saying their ancestors from previous centuries were born in Humberside. Jennie from near the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds xx
