What details do I need to know to order a birth certificate and is it possible to order a birth certificate of a parent that is still alive without them knowing?I also have a definate birth and death date of a grandparent but not exactly sure where they were born. Cheers Gillie |

Yes you can order your parent's birth certificates. You will need the GRO reference which is free to search here:- http://www.ancestry(.)co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx remove the brackets from the address. If you want to give your grandparents names and dates of birth (as long as they are not living - if they are give the details in a personal message), and someone will look up the reference for you. Gillie think if the birth is within the last 50 years you have to have the exact date. dawnie xx |
