I really hate it when a form asks for religion as you have no idea these days what they really what to know. I am afraid that if asked what religion I put 'Christian' and if asked what denomination I will put 'C of E' |

Thanks all for the replies . I guess it was that on looking through the creed registers for all young children 99% were marked as c of e . So really was just questioning as to why this might have happened . Again many thanks for all your replies. Denis |

I am a Christian and a member of a Baptist Church. Baptists are a bit like Methodists, but we believe in adult baptism as a declaration of faith rather than the baptism of infants. Liz |

I just assume the question was asked of each child individually. So If the boy filled out both forms They would be Baptist and Christian if the girl filled them out. Am i wrong in thinking that a Baptist is a Christian? |

I assume they were different ages, so perhaps when they entered school, at one point perhaps their family were baptists, then by the time the other entered they were just Christians or the other way round - or the person putting it down was different in each year and they always put baptists down as Christians, so they were both Baptists but the person entering the info one year just grouped them all together as christians? (if that makes sense!) Alex |

Sounds as if the school just didn't recognise Baptists as Christians ! Lol. Or maybe they used Christian as shorthand for C of E. |

My great grandfather and his sister attended Hanwell school in 1894 and on their creed registers he was doocumented as a baptist and she a christian. Has anybody out there got any explanation as to why this could be??? I would be grateful for any ideas. Many thanks Denis |
