What else can this mean in 1861? There are no other family members with the same surname as her. |

Perhaps her mother was the wife of whoever is the head of the household and she was born before they married, father being not the new husband? Could be the husband was married before and any older children are his from a previous marriage, then he marries again and his new wife has had a child out of wedlock with someone else? Hence why she doesn't know her fathers name when it comes to getting married as her mother never told her, but she knew she wasn't the daughter of her mothers husband? Long shot!! Alex |

Her birth cert would have her parents on (unless her mother was unmarried). Alternatively, you could search for a marriage of the two 'parents' and see what the wife is called, then look for her in 1851. She'll either be with a husband, or on her own. If she's with another husband, you can search for that marriage to find her maiden name. |

LOL Alexandra I was confused before! but even more so now lol After reading it a few time though.....worth looking into. Thanks x I have been looking for Elizabeth Pilliner living with the Gurney family..Selina and William. This is where I found her in 1861 as daughter in law aged 9. I wondered if Selina was Elizabeths Mothers sister, so looked up Seliner Pilliner on an earlier census. Found her!....I think... Listed as Selina Pilner b1811.Herefordshire. Actual census reads Selina PILLINER!!!! Yippeeee! Gotta go to work now but have something to get my teef into when I get back. Thanks for listening everyone xx |
