Hi Guys Dont know if anyone else has noticed this but on GR when you click on a person it normally has the tabs - Details, Extra Details and Photos. I noticed a new tab today - not sure how long it has been there but its Parents - this allows to you to change the parents of a person - where the parents have more than one marriage - so for instance if you had John Smith and Jane Jones with 5 children, and then you discovered that John had been married before to a Mary Brown and that the first two children were actually theirs rather than his and Janes - you can add Mary as the other spouse and then change the parents of the children in question, without having to delete and re-enter information. I found this really handy as I recently came across a family where there were 14 children and on looking on the 1841 census saw the man of the house had a different wife than in 1851 meaning that the first 3 children were his first wifes and then the rest were his second wifes, so I was then able to just assign the children to the correct mother without too much faffing about. You cant change the parents if the parents you have already got down for a person only married each other and no-one else. Alex |
