Can you please help. I have a name of John Orrell of Bolton who was executed in 1835. I'm wondering whether this person is related. I have 1 other Orrell in my tree, that could be a daughter or other family member to this person. How do I find out more information about the person that was exectuted. Thanks for you help Nicola

Dear Nicola Googled name and found this - 26 March 1835 John Orrell of Bolton executed for murdering his child. Found no Bolton Revisited website. Perhaps there is a newspaper archive somewhere with more details? Best wishes Maria

Thanks for the nudge, I've had a look at the site, but there is no more information than i already have. I have googled John's name and I get the same info off the Bolton website and unfortunately no more information is given. Are there websites to get the trial information from? Nicola

Have you tried the local record office to where the trial was held? I doubt there would be anything about the trial online, unless its a famous one.

There is a rather macabre site with details on all this stuff. I copied and pasted this from it .... 26/03/1835 John Orrell - Lancashire - Lancaster Castle - Murder daughter (8) I had seen the site before and google 'judicial hanging' to get there.
