Please can anyone help read an occupation on 1841 census Abel Morgan, born abt 1801, Cheslyn Hay HO107 ED 8 Page 1 Line 1 GSU 474612 Thanks in anticipation Clare

Clare I think it is brickmaker (brickm). Lower on the same page there is a brick /m Ap (brickmaker's apprentice). Hope this helps. Carol

It says Brick m. If you look at the bottom of the next page it's written much clearer. I have no idea what it means though. Sheila

Cant read it either and have enlarged in to 200% starts with B then could be u or ri looks like an n or m last .but thats all I could really see.sorryDo you have any occupation later for him say on one of the childs certs

Clare Think the enumerator must have visited the pub before transcribing :( Or his pen was just naturally blotchy :) My first thought was Brick (something) and there is an Edward Walker? who is clearly a Brick??? at the bottom of the same page and they do look similar. Sorry...Not alot of help :( Chris

Thanks Carol, Sheila, Shirley and Chris I'm still not sure. On 1851 it looks like Buck but still could be Brick. On Old occupations website there is an occupation listed as Buckram maker so it is possible it is that but is more likely to be brickmaker from what Carol said Cheers everyone Clare
