Many thanks for still searching. I'm afraid this Louisa was the wife of one William Bass. Steph |

Hi Good idea - Louisa on the cert has a father called George Bass who is a blocker in a hat factory. My Louisa's father was called Thomas and died in 1881. The witnesses don't help either. Bah!! Steph |

Just a note to say it appears that all deaths and marriages are uploaded on Free BMD between 1891 and 1901. I shall have to accept that she moved elsewhere! Thanks a lot, Steph |

Hi Judith I'm afraid both of these suggestions are dead ends - September 1906 marriage - that Louisa Bass married Richard Eames, I have the cert. 1901 Census Louisa Kendall b Westoning - George Kendall married Louisa Woodward in 1900. She was originally Louisa Carter who married a Woodward who died in 1900. She then married George Kendall. All very puzzling. Thanks again for your help. I'll check with Free BMD and see what records they still have to upload btwn 1891 and 1901. All the best, Steph |

Hi Many thanks for all your replies. I've looked for Louisa's death or marriage on Free BMD and Ancestry. The other Louisas you kind people have found are either married or the wrong single ladies. I have the marriage cert for the Louisa b Biscot. My Louisa was single in 1891. Thanks a lot for your replies. Steph |

Where have you looked for death or marriage? freebmd is not complete so maybe the info has not been transcribed yet. Ancestry is supposed to be complete but there are pages missing and lots of mistakes. Jennie |

I have a Louisa Bass b Westoning, Beds 1871. She appears in the 1891 Census as head of household with her younger sister Maud. In 1901 Maud is a servant in Luton but Louisa has disappeared. I can find no record of any death or marriage for her. Any ideas gratefully received. |
