Thanks Kathleen, Jim and Janice I didn't realise that Ruthin could be separate- Think the only thing I can do is send for cert using ref checks, but will probably be quite a number of checks given that it's such a common name. Just my luck- nothing straight forward. Thanks again Simone x |

If she is down as 3 in the 1851 census, she could have been 3 any time from June qtr. of 1850 to June qtr. of 1851, so you should be looking for a birth from June qtr. of 1847 to June qtr. of 1848. Kath. x |

just to make message clearer - Hi I have Mary Ann Jones marries George Parkin Davidson, 26/10/1868 in Liverpool- (George born Workington, Cumberland)they are both 'minor'. Mary's father is Edward a joiner. I would like to send for Mary's birth cert- On each census with George, Mary's age is consistent, i.e 22,32,42.52, in 1871, 1881,1891 and 1901 respectively. To make things more complicated her place of birth is different on each alternate census. in 1871 it is Manchester, 1881 it is Ruthin, 1891 it is Manchester, in 1901 it is Ruthin. I have searched for Mary Ann with her father and believe it may be her in 1851 and 1861 living at Wrexham, Denbighshire, with father Edward, joiner. 1851 HO107 2503 465 19 - 1861 - RG9 4287 33 10. This is the only Mary Ann I can find in England and Wales with father Edward who is a Joiner, and age fits too. In 1851 Mary Ann is down as age 3, and in 1861 as age 12. I can't find this family in Wales after 1861 but have found a couple of possible siblings in Liverpool on later census. So what do you think? I am inclined to search for a birth in Wrexham, which I think would cover Ruthin. Also should I be searching from Jun q 1848 to Mar q 1849, or Jun q 1849 to Mar q 1850. The more I think about it the more confused I get. Thanks for any help Simone x Just popping around the corner now, be back shortly |
