I found my grandfather's medal card at The National Archives Site and it gave me his army service numbers and regiments and details of medals awarded, where he went into battle and date he entered the theatre of war. It only cost £3.50. I now know he was in the Surrey Yeomanry (Queen Mary's Regiment). There is a good website on 1914-1918, you'll find on google, that has those dates in the title. Claire |

Hi Clare, thanks for your reply, i got my gt grandfathers medal card also, but it only gives his number and says he was in the Royal field artillery, the medals that he got and when he went to France. The RFA is broken up into many brigades and i have been having a lot of trouble finding out this info. I have been to Kew and have his war records, but again they were burnt in WW2 so very little remains, what does is hard to read. I came across this cd for the Recruitment registers its £15 so i wondered if it was worth buying, would it be able to give me anymore info. I have used the 1914-1918 site and the people on there have given me loads of help. thanks again yvette |
