I ordered a birth certificate for my g grandmother and it arrived today. Guess what! It was the wrong one. I have checked ancestry complete births today and I cant find her. My computer is so slow it has taken the best part of the day. I have my g grandmothers marriage certificate and it says Name:- Mary Ellen Cosgrove Age:- 21 Father:- Peter Cosgrove, deceased Marriage was June 1905. I have searched from 1883 to 1887 and I havent found anything.I am sure Mary was born in Liverpool (found this through the census). I have looked under the following names:- Mary, Mary Ellen and even Ellen Mary. But nothing. Has anyone any suggestions please? Jayne |

Perhaps she was registered under another name and later called the names you have on her marriage cert? Or she may have been registered as 'female'. At the very bottom of the index pages there are sometimes added entries. |

If you have Mary on censuses 1891 and 1901 are they consistent about birthplace and date of birth? Which registration district is she in in 1891? Have you tried looking for a baptism? |

Hi Hellen I looked at the end of the entries for Cosgrove to se if there were any females registered but there wasnt, would these have been put at the bottom of the page or at the end of the Cosgroves. On the 1891 census Mary is aged 5 and has the initial E after Mary and born in Liverpool. On the 1901 census Mary is aged 16 and does not have a middle name or initial and again is born in Liverpool. The district for these census is Toxteth Park. I have checked on the family seaarch site for a baptism but there is nothing. Is there another site I can check Jayne |

Hi June Thanks for looking for me.I have already had 2 of those certificates. I think I might get the records office to check the others that you mention. Even though they are in a different area it could still be her. Our relatives have been known to lie Thankyou Jayne |

Hi June I had seen that one but ignored it because it was Manchester. I am going to add it to my list on Monday for them to check. Thankyou Jayne |
