Hello, I sent an email to someone who has 11 hot matches with a name in my tree. All the matches match the ones I have, date of birth and place of birth so, as you can imagine, quite excited. Not heard anything back so I looked to see when I emailed but cant find any record in my contacts. Any idea where I should look please or will there be no record until they reply. So confusing. Thanks Pam.

Please don't get too excited. A lot of people have got a bit cheesed off with Hot Matches because of the dross that it produces. It's unfortunate that good matches like yours get swamped by the dross. Did you send an interesting and attention-grabbing message to this person, showing that you could provide them with more than they already know? If it looked as if you were just interested in adding to your tree, they might not be interested.

Pam, is that person still listed in your hot matches? If not then perhaps he / she is no longer a member of GR? Or have you deleted your hot matches? If you can remember some of the names of people who matched your tree, then you could try searching for those names on the 'Quick search' and perhaps you can find the person you contacted that way and send them another message. Kate.

Thank you all. Just found by putting in date order. Has 11 hot matches on my nan's side. I sent 2 emails. First one saying that I was pretty sure there was a connection. Then double checked with my names and there is definitely a connection so sent another. Unfortunately no reply yet. So frustrating but hopefully will hear something soon. Thanks again Pam.
