Hi all, looking on census I've seen the name jno, Is this short for anything?

i thought that as the name John is in the family a lot also thought it might be short for junior Lee

Jno is short for John. There are several other commonly used short forms of first names. Junior would be Jnr. I have one of these, where father (Snr) and son (Jnr) were living next door to each other when the census was taken.

THANKS again. as you can probably tell I'm new to this, Started because my son had to do a tree for school. Now I'm kind of hooked and my son is out playing football :-)
