the address Ruth gave is where i got info about my grandad. I found out where he served what regt' he was in(now on my wall with his medals) lee

I sent off for my grandads records - they did take about 6/7 months to arrive but it is worth the wait. Cost was £30. regards Karen

Thanks Marion and Ruth. In this day of instant records - why on earth would it take 6 months!! I'm pleased it didn't take that long for you - I hope it's as quick for me! I'll have a read through the other threads. Thanks again, Chris

I think it cost me about £30 but to me it was well worth it. Found out a few things about my mum we did not know. They also tell you it is taking up to 6 months to get the records but mine came in 4 weeks.. good luck xx

I had a look when I was researching about my mother who served in ww2. Looks like you can't access after 1920. I wrote to this address to get my mothers army records ARMY PERSONNEL CENTRE HISTORIC DISCLOSURES MAIL POINT 40 KENTIGERN HOUSE 65 BROWN STREET GLASGOW G2 8EX TEL 01412243030

I know I can look at Naval Service Records on the National Archives Website, but is there anywhere I can look at WW2 Army Records on-line, and perhaps order copies? I've looked at National Arcghives but couldn't find anything there. I'd really appreciate any advice or pointers. Many thanks. Chris
