Would anyone have an address to apply for a Indian birth 1876 and do I need to fill in a form and how much does it cost Thanks

I found my Great Grandfather's birth record in India through familysearch (I think it's the LDS site). I just entered his name and there it was! Free too! I was amazed as I didn't think I stood any chance at all of finding out anything on him. Hope this helps.

www.fibis*.org You could try this site for Families in British India/ Not sure whether it will help but worth a look to see. (delete * when putting in search)

Thanks Gerry I did find my Gr grandmother on LDS but it did not give her mothers maiden name as I know nothing of this side of the family I was hoping ro get some clues from the cert

Hi Just to let you know that The British Library - India Office Collections have records of Birth, Marriage and Deaths. You can pay 20p for a photocopy of an entry, or if you would like a full legal certificate it costs aprox £ 13.00. If you phone the library you can ask them to locate the certifictate for you at a small cost. Best wishes Gem
