many thanks for replies it said on 1881 census that it was in falmouth in cornwall,will google to see what else i can find bacardi xxxxxxx

During the mid to late 1800's HMS Ganges was 'based' at Portsmouth My Great Grandfather was one of it's crew. Sheila

HMS Ganges was a shore-based training establisment on the Shotley peninsular at Ipswich from 1905-1975. I believe that previous to that it was an actual sailing ship.

just found one of my relies on this ship in 1881 charles iliffe age 17 travling as a first class boy were was this ship going in 1881 and does any 1 else have people on this ship info was from family search and lots of people on it from all over england and ireland bacardi xxx
