There are many sites available by googling but this is one of the best: http://www(.)convictcentral(.)com/ remove brackets You can also purchase their Freedom Tickets online as well as fining out through National Newspapers the trial and offence for which they went to Australia. Janet

Nicola I was able to trace my rellie via the info at Kew but there is also another way. If you use Rootsweb mailing boards and go into Australia you will find boards dedicated to Australian convicts. Quite a number of the people who post on this board have a cd of transported convicts to Australia. They will then check your guy on the cd and come up with docs held in Australia on them. Armed with this info I then got into the site called Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness - or of course use this board with our Aussie friends- and a lady went to her archives and copied me all the docs about what happened to him at that end. If he went to Western Australia there is a very good web site. Wish I could remember the URL for you, but I found it on Google

Where was he from? I found more info from a website about Staffordshire convicts for one person I was looking for but I don't know if every county has similar records. Janice

Hello Nicola, they hold some of these records at Kew. Not been to look myself but I believe there are lists of people held on each of the hulks. Helen

Hi, Is there anymore information I can find out about somebody who was sent to Australia on the convict ships in1849? I have the name, age, year of trial and ship. I do believe that this is the person as he has dissapeared from the census from 1851 and his child is showing a living with relative from 1851. It would be nice to find more info. Thanks Nicola
