How can I remove people from my tree?

Hi, I want to remove certain people from my tree but GR won't let me as every time I try it says 'you can't remove people who are connected to others' . Is there any way I can do this without re-loading the whole tree and starting again? I don't know why it isn't like my Family Tree Maker where you can delete anyone, it is my tree after all!!

Think you have to remove their children first. Anna x
