Also termed struma. [Thomas1875] A form of tuberculosis affecting the lymph nodes, especially of the neck, that is most common in children and is usually spread by unpasteurized milk from infected cows. Also called struma; the King's Evil. [Heritage]. 'scrofula' was first used: 14th century from the Late Latin expression 'scrofulae ' meaning swelling of the glands of the neck'. [Webster]

I have just been looking at a death certificate from 1849 can't read what cause of death was it looks like Scrofula or could be the first letter is a D and then it says certified anyone any ideas thank you Margaret
