Hi Paul, Who are you looking for and what are your queastions? You might find some answers on Alex Glendinning's site at http://user.itl.net/~glen/CIintro*html There are plenty of places to search from on there.

Thanks Joan. I'm familiar with Alex Glendinning's site and very good it is too. James Stewart was a bookbinder and seems to have been in Guernsey under contract to his London firm. I'm a fairly seasoned researcher now and I think I've covered all the obvious avenues, so I'm hoping now to make contact with somebody on-site with local knowledge for an exchange of ideas.

Thanks Annie, I have. They were very helpful. I also visited the library in Guernsey where they keep all the local records including BMD etc. The Stewart family don't seem to have left much of a mark on the community in the 20 years they were there. My grandfather Stephen was born in 1899. I haven't yet checked out school records, but there may be something there.

PM me and see if I can help. Husband's a Channel Islander - born Jersey lived Guernsey. Sister in law still on Guernsey and SIL and BIL on Sark. You can always go to www.thisisguernsey*com and go to the letters pages of the Press and query on there.
