i know youre right Kate. what i have been doing is researching all in can on ancestry etc.. then getting the certs one by one. just recieved my gt grandads to confirm his dad and maiden name of his wife and luckily the way i have been going is correct. its just frustrating while you are waiting for the next cert to arrive not being able to do a little bit more! i know just by finding it online that its not conclusive but it helps! thanx to all carolexx

Carole, you would be best to wait until you can get the child's birth certificate or else you might just pick the wrong Sarah and trace her line way back and then find out it was a waste of time! Kate.

Carole, when you say you 'have their descendants', do you have the birth certificate of one of their children? Because that would tell you Sarah's maiden name (and any previous married name) so we could be sure of finding the right marriage. Otherwise, there are so many Sarahs that we might find you the wrong one and lead you up the garden path! Kate. P.S. Oh, and the same goes for Ann's maiden name - get Martin's birth certificate and it will tell you. Then you can look for Edward and Ann's marriage. Ann is an even more common name than Sarah!
