You can't do it using the tree building tools of GR. It is a good idea though, to maintain any but the smallest tree on software on your own PC (regularly backed up, of course), and Family Tree Maker is the most popular choice. It is very inexpensive, and widely available. I use Personal Ancestral File, which is downloadable FREE from the LDS site, and does nearly everything that FTM maker does, but for nothing. It can manage almost any relationship, and you can upload a copy of your tree (or an extract from it, if you prefer) using GR's import GEDCOM feature, which is quick and easy to use. If you want to go that route, then GR can send you a copy of your online tree (exporting a GEDOM) which you can import into your offline software, without having to rekey any of your existing data. If you have two individuals in your GR tree that you want to link, this is then very easy in either PAF or FTM, and if you have the same person twice (to represent relationships with other people, such as married cousins), then you can merge those duplicates of the same person into one record. When that information is re-exported back to GR online, the relationships still work. |

If you mean on your Genes Tree, then I doubt you can link, the facilities here are very basic! If you use a programme such as Family Tree Maker, it is easy - there is a tab marked 'fix relationship' Good luck! Bridget |

How do I link individuals in my family tree, whom I find at a later date are related? |
