up till 1929 Girls could marry at 12 and boys at 14 with parents consent so maybe full age meant 14 ???? |

thank you ladies!!! that makes it all a little clearer, according to a lady who looked up baptisms in the area for me last year said there was no entry for this guy where we would've expected it! I don't think there will be a birth cert for him, but I'll give it a try! Many thanks again, Sandra |

OR, he was fibbing that he was of full age because dad didnt agree to the marriage? Can you check out his age on later/earlier census? You should be able to find him as a child and see who the father, if any, is shown in the household. |

Two probabilities!! he was illegitimate or his father had died & his answer to the registrar when he filed the marriage banns was he didnt have a father! cos he was dead. His birth cert should give more clues |

I have a copy of my Gr Grandfather's marriage certificate dated 3 July 1879. He is 'full' age so that would be over 21? he is a batchelor but his father's name is not there. Why would that be? any ideas much appreciated! thanks Sandra |
