Hi, I am the sister of an adoptee and have been reading your messages with interest. I was 10 when my parents told me my older brother was adopted, my 1st question was 'am I adopted too?' when told no I was most disappointed. My brother (not adopted brother) told me a number of years ago he would like to find his blood brother(s) but wasn't intersted in his bm. I was devastated at the time as my only sibling I felt I wasn't good enough for him that he wanted to replace me. I got over myself and although he is, was, and always be, my brother and his wives and children too. I understand his need to find out where he came from. I am trying to find his birth family for him as he feels that to do it himself would hurt our mother too much. Can anyone help me to find out about his birth family? I know his birth name, date of birth and adopted name and a general birth area |

Hi Linda, There is a thread on here to put a birth name and DOB for people searching. I don't know if you have read the adoptess thread also ( hints and hugs), but many of the ones to point you in the right direction will be on there also. I will bump them up to page one for you now. Hope this helps Cya Mel |

How much does your brother know of his BM? Does he know her name/the names of his siblings? If not he would need to approach Social Services for his adoption file. That should contain his BM (and possibly B Fathers) name(s). He would also then be able to apply for a copy of his original Birth Certificate with his given name. This info could help in his/your search. You wouldn't be able to get the info from Social Services - it would have to be your brother. If you need any further info please let me know, as my OH is currently trying to locate a BM and siblings too. AL |
