Please find below an extract from an email discussion I had back in August: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I have just phoned the Register Office to enquire about Claro. This area covered Harrogate, Knaresborough, Pateley Bridge, Ripon, Boroughbridge and Aldborough. The area of Claro was in operation from 1947 - 1998 which explains why your birth certification says Claro and mine doesn't. Since 1998 all have come under North Yorkshire. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hope it helps. John

Can anyone tell me if some one was married in harrogate in the 50s which district would it come under, thank you for any help.
