i am looking for my Greatgrandmother named Blodwen Harris who gave birth to my nan in 1915 she was born out of marrage and i have no other information on her. She was born 13 Edwards Terrace Quakers Yard Myrthr Tydfill. to find out more i think i need to see bastardy records of the time. Can any one help? Thanks Andrea Clark |

If you mean 1915, then there won't be bastardy bonds as these had died out. There might be a court order to award payment, if the mother went to court to get money from the father. But equally, she might have just come to an arrangement that he would pay her for the child, without any formal documentation. You could try to find a baptism for her as that might give her father's name. Both the baptism registers and the court details (will be in the Quarter Sessions) will be at the relevant county records office. nell |
