The child's birth would have been registered along with your Mum's. I was always told I was a twin, but thanks to my interest in this stuff, I was able to find out the truth...twas only me born on that great day!! LOL Shirley-ann

In theory, both the birth and the death would have been recorded. Note that even though they might have happened on the same date that they would still be treated as two quite separate events for registration purposes. If the child survived only for a few hours, the registrations may have been under the surname but without any given names. Did you try and find the registration for the birth, the death, or both? Oh, and there is also a possibility that the child was actually stillborn, in which case the registration is done in a special register which (I think) she would be able to gain access to as a child of the parents, but which you wouldn't be able to apply to see yourself.

hi can any1 help plz its about my mum ,she was always told she was a twin . but was told her twin only lived for a few hrs after birth. my mother and i went to the records office to try and find out more info ,but was told they had no record of it.my mum was born in 1953 does any1 no if things like that were recorded in they days or were she would be able to find out more info. as she is totally devastated by this news . any help greatly appreciated. thankyou.
