Local History Society or the Archive for your area should have listing on all V2s - I have seen a map in our local archive that plots where each V1 and V2 fell and date, from there you can look for further information . |

O.K. It happened 01/12/1944 in Leyton, London. I have tried the local paper for the time nothing. They were obviously trying to keep the morale of the locals up. There wasn't even a mention of the V2. Someone suggested looking in the local paper after the war (between 1945-1950)but not living near Vestry House Museum is a bit of a problem. (Must say the local studies librarian is scary there. Super efficient but.........) I will see if there is a local history society that could help. Thanks for your input. |

Maybe the relevant local history society might be able to help? I'm sure wartime history is something they'll have lots of information about. |

I suspect you may have the devil of a time trying to get to the bottom of this one! I doubt that local newspapers are likely to mention that it was 'one of ours'... Possibly there's some sort of official records buried away in the county records, or at Kew? |

just had a thought - if it was caused by the ack ack gun there would be a report about that |

what about the local papers? often they are valuable - or the local FHS - I know mine has loads of info from during the war - so does the small museum here Its one of these things that you HAVE to get to the bottom of isnt it |

No she is on the CWGC. i know what happened, a missile killed her but I'd like to know why my fathers family were so sure it was 'us' not 'them' who where responsible. On the day that she died there was a V2 attack in the area but she was in the vacinity of where the Ack-ack guns where fired. |

hi Janet, Have you entered her name on the CWGC site? as they aslso list civilians as well - could it possibly have been in a munitions factory? |

Does anyone have a civilian dying due to enemy action during the war? My Father's aunt was killed and the family line is that it was caused by a a shell casing or shrapnel from our side. Now her death certificate lends weight to that theory in my mind as the cause of death is given as 'war operations' What do you think? |
