How can I tell if a death certificate belongs to m

Unfortunately it's very difficult to be sure that you have a death certificate for the right person. The only real clues that you get in addition to what's in the index are the address where the death occurred, which is no real help if it was in hospital, and the name, description, and address of the informant. If you're lucky, though, the deceased left a will, and you'd be able to get a copy of it form the probate people. |

I am searching for the death of my great grandad CHARLES HENRY ATTWOOD born 1859 in Roydon Hamlet Essex. I have him on the 1901 census at Great Parndon Essex. On his son's wedding certificate in 1920 it says father deceased. I have looked through all the civil registration indexes 1901 - 1920 without success. However I found a Henry Attwood aged 49 who died in Edmonton in 1904. His son was born in Edmonton so there could be a connection! What information is on the death certificate that would help me identify him? His wife would not be the informant as she died in 1901. Sorry this is a bit long winded but I am beginning to pull my hair out and my brain seems to have gone into hibination. Regards Jackie |
