Does anyone have a 1945 death certificate? I know what are on the ones in the 1990's and in the 1880's but I want to know what is on the 1945 ones. Thanks Josie

You will find they are the same as the 1880s. Jennifer

Oh dear, in other words not a lot. I wanted to know where my Grandmother was born as I can't find her on the 1901census and haven't found a birth record. Her sister died in 1980 but I don't think there is any point in ordering that certificate as my aunt registered the death and she didn't know so just put down what she thought.

Usually by then the address information is more detailed, otherwise the information is similar to earlier ones. Gwyn

Was your grandmother's sister born before 1901 too? If so and you know their father's name... from grandmother's marriage cert.... you should be able to find them together in the census and this will narrow down the area to search for in BMD records. Gwyn

Many thanks all My grandmothers name was May Newton, although my sister thinks that was the name she went under and she was an Emma but I haven't a clue where she got that from. She died on 7 Oct 1945 in Surrey and I found the death entry under May Blaker age 51 so that would mean she was born around 1894. Her marriage certificate shows her in June 1914 as 21 so that makes her birth around 1893. Fathers name George Newton, a contractor. He had died before May got married. Mothers name is Kate and she died I believe in 1936. There was a sister Kate who was born 4 Oct 1898 and died end of July beginning of August 1980. She died in Brighton, and I've found the death entry. The birth entry in 1898 in Brighton for Kate is not the same one as I found her on the 1901 census. The mother Kate had been married before to I believe a Mr Meyer and there was a daughter Hetti but I don't know ages etc. I know that mother Kate lived in Brighton in 1928 & 1929 from the voters list, and at some time lived in Lewes Many thanks
