There's a marriage for James Yates and Elizabeth M Bew, 1st quarter 1916 in Liverpool district (vol 8b page 5) That seems to fit about right with their grandson being born in 1947 Then looking at the births, there's a James A Yates, mother Bew, West Derby 1919 Oct-Dec 8b 1140.

was just off to bed then.. Valerie, could be! I was born in Liverpool, as was my dad... his birth date was 7th april 1947, His parents were winifred butler (born yorkshire) and James Yates(possible middle name alexander) All i have is the names for winifred and james with no dates added, im sure both were born AFTER 1901 census (fuff)..winifred had just filled in her hubby's parents as James Yates and Elizabeth May baeu ( i assumed it was mis-spelt as i cant find any baeu's anywhere and changed it to beau...) Will have to get back ordering certs, i was hoping i was just missing it in the census and a new pair of eyes would find them... LOU xxxx PS. thanks for the help guys...xx

Another thing to consider: Beau is one of those names that's often misspelt or mistranscribed on official records. You may have to try Bow, le Beau or even Bean or Beam when you're searching for her. And May is often mistranscribed as Mary. Gordon

You need to give more information - The part tree that you have found may or may not be correct - you really do need proven information with dates. I have done a run to see if I could find anything on a Beau-Yates marriage but come up with nothing - maybe part of the problem is that I don't know your age so I cannot guess the ages or dates of birth of your ancestors - eben your father. Your grandmother was doing the family tree - did she leave any papers to substantiate the information that she has set down ? As Gwyneth has said - you need to start with your parents and work back so before tackling your greats you need to know about your grands.

I think you'll have to start the other end....ie. with more recent times and work back. Find your Dad's birth cert. Then his parents marriage, which will show father's names and occupation. I'm guessing that you will be back in to census time by then, so gradually you can build up the picture. Gwyn
