Hi everyone, Quick question. If someone died fighting abroad in World War One (or any war for that matter), will their deaths be listed on the BMD index? Thanks, Matthew

They should be on the overseas index on 1837online, which is a pay per view site. The deaths should be on www.cwgc.org which is the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site. Kath. x

Thank you. I am on the CWGC web site and was hoping to watch some of the entries to the BMD. Will take a look at the 1837 site. Thanks, Matthew

The overseas index is also on the FamilyRelatives site - the difference being, it is FREE to view on there! Richard

I found my greatgrandfathers death on CWWG site and then sent for his death cert which was on the oversea section. I found that CWWG provides more info than the death cert which was handwritten and just said killed in action. From this I doubt I would order a cert again from this section but I have heard of people who which to confirm the details with a cert. Would be happy to forward my copy so you can see what info they give Elaine

Richard: I didn't know that, and see they also have some other interesting free-to-access records that might possibly find some family members who are reputed to have emigrated to South America. Thanks v. much for the heads-up!! AGw.
