If anyone has five minutes to spare would they mind having aroot around to see if they can find a certain Harry Oliver born1889 in Basingstoke Hants. He is on the 1891 census and 1901 census. 2 and 12 respectively. He was my mothers uncle but I never heard any mention of him. His parents were Herbert and Jane. I have searched high and low, WW1 military records etc., but I can find no mention of him after 1901. Any information would be appreciated. Gloria I tried the Henrys and the Harolds - no luck so may leave this and come back to it at a later date. |

Gloria What sort of information were you hoping for? Have you tried looking for his death? Did he die prior to WWI or maybe he had an exempt occupation and didn't participate. If you have his birth, 1891 census and 1901 census you already have most of what you are able to find on-line unless he participated in the war then you need to find out the above. Snowdrops |

The only online records which cover post-1901 are bmd's, adn the CWGC site. If he married, or died, in England/Wales, the record should be on the bmd's........it's really just a case of ploughing through the images, quarter by quarter........good luck. If he died in action during the War, it will be recorded on the CWGC site. Reg |

I don't know if the name is a coincidence but did you know there is a Harry Oliver aged 64 who died basingstoke in the March quarter 1911 basingstoke 2c 140 Ann Glos |

It's his death I'm looking for. Morning Reg, Thanks to information you gave me previously I've trawled everywhere including the War Records for WW1. I've done the BMD's and drawn total blank. It's strange that he was never mentioned which makes me wonder. Many thanks anyway. Gloria |

Thanks Ann, Yes I did know about that one and he is probably related, but that date would make my Harry older than his parents. The frustating thing is that I know his parents, sisters x 3, his neices etc. I've a feeling this is going to be a long one. Gloria |

Yes I had thought of Henry but there is nothing that ties in and he is referred to as Harry on what I have got. I suppose it's possible that he moved right away and died elsewhere. There were railways workers in the family which did tend to be the start of people finding lives further afield that previously. Never min I'll find him one day. Thankyou |
