Just a little correction, in the States it's Labor Day, here in Canada, Labour Day. Yes, the old rule was that one never wears white shoes after Labour Day. Like everything else that has been changed in this world, that rule is no longer followed. Margaret |

Labour day is the last public holiday of the summer period and is generally seen as the end of summer. All my US friends and colleagues get quite excited about it and many head off to the beach or similar for a last summer weekend away and /or BBQ. I think that the white thing relates to the fact that one should only wear white in summer and that now is the time to switch to more autumnal colours! I think it is pretty relaxed these days but my New Yorker friends certainly wouldn't wear white shoes after Labour Day. That apparently is a fashion crime of the highest order. As far as I'm aware though this does not apply to weddings. Louise |
